MBC’s “PD Notebook” Apologizes To C-JeS For Falsely Stating That The Agency Did Not Respond To Them

The morning of June 29, following the June 28 broadcast of MBC’s “PD Notebook” covering the Park Yoochun case, the show posted a notice on their homepage apologizing to C-JeS Entertainment.
The post says, “It was revealed through a June 29 article from Herald POP that the statement made during the June 28 broadcast of ‘PD Notebook’ saying that C-JeS Entertainment didn’t [make any statement] was false. C-JeS stated to media, ‘When we were asked to give a statement [to ‘PD Notebook’] regarding the series of incidents, we responded via e-mail.’”
“PD Notebook” then states, “After confirmation with our production team, we have confirmed that C-JeS responded with the e-mail below on June 24.”

Here is the full text of C-JeS’s response to “PD Notebook” (revealed in the PD Notebook apology post):

“Hello, this is C-JeS Entertainment.
“This is our response to your request for our cooperation regarding the ‘PD Notebook’ broadcast scheduled for June 28.
“From the [first] reports on the incidents to now, our stance has not changed. Many outlets have requested interviews, but we are unable to consent to any.
“Due to indiscriminate reports on unconfirmed situations that are still being investigated, [Park Yoochun’s] image is being ruined. In this current situation with rumors flying about and with the essence of the situation being lost, we want to keep our course, and we will do everything we can to regain [Park Yoochun’s] honor and reputation.
“We hope you understand why we have no choice but to respond to interview requests according to a specific guide.
“Thank you.”

“PD Notebook” then apologizes: “We sincerely apologize to viewers regarding the part which we failed to confirm. We would also like to express our deepest regrets to C-JeS Entertainment. We will, through more thorough confirmation, bring you better broadcasts in the future.”

Park Yoo-Chun Almost Shuts Down "Asian Entertainer Website"

Overwhelming Response From Fans All Over The World

In the early hours of Sunday June 26, Krowe Media administration received an automated alert from their own developer hosting account that The Asian Entertainer was about to exceed its bandwidth. It didn’t seem possible since Krowe Media allocates an extremely generous amount of bandwidth for all its websites. But it happened as visitors from all over the world responded to the Park Yoo-Chun editorial posted two days earlier. The bandwidth issue was resolved quickly and visitors were able to continue without interruption.
When first posted on AE’s Facebook page, it generated little response during the first few hours. But what happened after that came as a total surprise. It all began with a #Yoochun hashtag on Twitter and RT from a single female fan in the Philippines. No one had to do anything else. We had unknowingly provided the matches, but it was Yoochun fans on Twitter who started the fire. Never underestimate a seemingly small voice or a network of fans on a mission.
Gauging by the volumes of fan-sites on the internet, the Yoochun following is no small group. But to actually witness a worldwide army form overnight and almost swallow a hefty website, boggles the mind. Although The Asian Entertainer referred to this in the editorial, the reality of how deep that fan base actually runs was overwhelming and is most likely only “the tip of the iceberg”.
While it doesn’t mean every visitor was a fan, the amount of positive feedback reflects that most were. The top 15 locations of unique visitors were (1)Malaysia (2)Thailand (3)Indonesia (4)Ukraine (5)Philippines (6)Russian Federation (7)Japan (8)Germany (9)Vietnam (10)China (11)Singapore (12)Mexico (13)Israel (14)Hong Kong (15)South Korea. The US was actually at #1 but not listed because those numbers also reflect routine traffic to the website.
Some feedback came from fans expressing their dismay of other entertainers with frozen careers stemming from accusations, either ongoing or had cases dismissed but living with the stigma of being involved in a scandal. The main concern of those fans was how certain media has influenced both the industry and public opinion, which again raises the topic of the problematic woes of epic proportions for South Korean entertainers.
The Asian Entertainer and its two additional counterpart sites were created for the sole purpose of promoting and supporting Asian and Asian Americans in the entertainment industry, from those behind the scenes to those in front of the cameras. But it is only equipped with a voice to raise awareness. As the Korean Wave continues to sweep the world like a tsunami, it is South Korea alone which has the power to implement policy and damage control to curtail the rampant and systematic destruction of its entertainers. The real root of the problem stems from the ones making false accusations. Zero tolerance by authorities for those wasting their time and resources, and zero profit from hush money by entertainment companies would make their schemes less attractive and easier for police to deal with real assault cases.

Park Yuchun’s case becomes complicated, with noncompliance of subpoena from opposing side

In the middle of investigating the case on the sexual assault allegations against Park Yuchun, the police have requested for the appearance of Mr. Hwang, the first female complainant’s acquaintance who was engaged in the battle for a large sum of settlement money.
Mr. Hwang, who’s known as a gangster, and his side are not answering to his subpoena, though.

However the questionings toward Ms. Lee’s boyfriend and Mr. Hwang, who are facing the countersuits, have not come about.
Although they are not responding to the police’s requests that they make an appearance, the police, after a phone call and request by letter, are planning for a requisition of an arrest warrant be reviewed.

[EDITORIAL] The Park Yoo-Chun Incident: If It Smells Like A Rat

An International POV

As the South Korean entertainment industry continues to grow in popularity around the world, it is attracting legions of new fans as they tap into the vast previously unexplored universe of K-pop music, TV dramas and movies. By making their entertainment content available on a global level, South Korea has opened up a world of addictive sub-titled wonders and talented musicians with their highly visual synchronized stage shows, endearing them to fans far beyond the realms of their own country and transforming them into international superstars.
This means with so much attention focused on their talent, what happens in South Korea no longer stays in South Korea. Although it is a small country which would fit in between Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA, their entertainment industry is second to none. But the downside is it has the highest rate of false allegations against celebrities than all other countries combined. Those in the limelight who depend upon their image to survive in the dog-eat-dog world of entertainment, also become sitting targets which some view as easy prey and a fast buck, putting them in a position where they either have to fight back, pay up or be destroyed. Although authorities take these matters seriously, it hasn’t stopped the bold and aggressive behavior of some to seize the chance to capitalize or gain attention when the opportunity presents itself.
All eyes are currently on Park Yoo-Chun, one of South Korea’s most prominent entertainers who is experiencing every actor’s nightmare. As the world watches the actor-singer fight to keep his professional life from crumbling amid accusations of sexual misconduct, the first thought which enters the minds of international onlookers is“here we go again”, because incidents of this nature are so commonplace.
An overall picture of Park’s ordeal is now coming into focus. Considering everything surrounding the initial claim and even before the criminal plot was exposed, the word “rape” had an absurd ring to it. The fact that the scheme against him fell through comes as no surprise. His mistake was letting someone he didn’t know well enough to trust with his private life get too close.
It’s highly doubtful Park can be charged on accusations alone. Why were the 2014 and 2015 allegations not pursued earlier? Their “after-thought” actions now appear as bogus as the first claim; Especially since it appears Yoochun was out of the country both times the incidents would have occurred as stated in their claims. Flimsy tactics of this sort should be an insult to any court of law in view of the initial accuser recanting her story and becoming the perpetrator by making false accusations against the star which resulted in blackmail and extortion charges backed with documented evidence.
Similar to the Yoochun accusations, the two females who were charged and convicted for blackmailing international star Lee Byung Hun learned the hard way about the consequences of fraud. Also, after being accused of sexual assault, singer Kai(not EXO Kai) has been proven innocent and cleared of all charges. Universal Music Group announced it will take legal action to seek restitution for the damage to the singer’s reputation.
Why should the public automatically assume Park Yoo-Chun is guilty of these charges simply because they are made by women? While crimes against women are a major issue and deserve all due diligence in recognizing their rights and protecting them, there are many instances where the perpetrators are women using the “weaker sex” scenario to carry out their orchestrated scheme to frame a person of notoriety for monetary gain, often with accomplices. All elements in Park’s situation screams this is the case.
The whole fiasco and everything surrounding it just doesn’t add up. To anyone watching this heartbreaking agony of one of South Korea’s A-list superstars, it “smells like a rat” (to detect something suspicious) making it very hard for common sense to accept the accusations as anything but contrived.
Park Yoo-Chun has yet to be charged with any wrongdoing and accusations against him continue to unravel and fall apart. His management company is taking a fortified stance in his support and stands ready to issue a counter attack against all individuals behind the malicious activity.
While rumors circulate that Yoochun will never work in the industry again, even after proven innocent, the fact remains he has a strong unwavering international fan base who are not buying into any of it. In the wake of this unfortunate disaster, strict measures should continue to be taken against all who made false statements as well as a major clean-up to uncover all the destructive comments launched by social media and internet jockeys on a witch hunt as well as biased journalists whose judgemental words resulted in defamation of character.

C-JeS released official statement after a new accusations arise against Yuchun

We are sorry in getting involved in the case that’s causing social, big wavelengths and sincerely apologize.
C-JeS Entertainment is refraining from a response in the meantime in connection with the various articles about Park Yuchun who is getting reported on recently.
This is because we thought of the procedure in which to respond properly and legally after the results of the police investigation comes out, than responding to what is mentioned about the charges we know nothing of in relations to the truth.
However we think this is nonsense that we are watching the various indiscriminate accusations be connected with Park Yuchun and have to make a response while waiting for the results of the police’s investigation.
By priority, we plan to file a complaint to the Gangnam Police on the extortion and calumny on Monday about the matter of the primary accusations that have been identified in relations to the faintest truth.
Also even about the charges after the secondary accusations, we plan to respond strongly to the false charges as it has been identified in relations to the truth.
We plan to actively cooperate in the police investigation to confirm Park Yuchun’s chivalry and recover his reputation.

‘Lucid Dream’ side, “Are in the middle of working on 2nd half of movie, opening date undecided”

Shot before Park Yuchun enlisted, film ‘Lucid Dream’ is in the middle of being worked on currently.
‘Lucid Dream’ stars Go Soo, Sol Kyung-gu, Kang Hye-jung, Park Yuchun, and others; and is receiving a lot of attention since its production stage, as a distinctive work with its material on lucid dreaming. It finished shooting at the end of June last year and had its crank-up before Park Yuchun’s military enlistment.
Park Yuchun had participated in the fantasy-thriller film ‘Lucid Dream’, as his last work before enlisting. He is set to play a role as a hidden character in the movie who helps Go Soo[‘s character], a man who embarks on searching for his son. ‘Lucid Dream’ has NEW(Next Entertainment World) –who hit the jackpot with KBS2 drama ‘Descendants of the Sun’ in the first half of this year– as its film investor & distributor. It is in post-production; its work on the second half [of the movie] in full swing currently, with its opening set in the second half of the year.

A high-ranking official for NEW showed their discreet stance in a phone call with Sports Chosun on the 14th: “There is nothing to be said on the story about Park Yuchun. We are straggling on being unable to mention anything until there is a police announcement about the charges”.
This official explained, “The case is not relevant to the film. ‘Lucid Dream’ is in the middle of being worked on currently. Although we are preparing for its release in the second half of the year, there is no release date yet to be confirmed”.
Also, a representative for ‘Lucid Dream’ side told Herald POP on the 14th: “As there is lucid dreaming as the material in the scenario of ‘Lucid Dream’, there is a lot of CG effects.
